Spring is around the corner

After finishing organizing the pingpang national team interior competition, i was called back to the head office and continue to work in the marketing aspect. Last Saturday and Sunday, it was the first holidays that i had taken since the Lantern Festival. I felt a little bit bored and depressed,because i moved out from my hangout and would run errands again.

I invited two co-workers to take some pictures of the Northern Lake park. Spring is around the corner, and maybe hope is coming soon either

The interior selection competition

I am sorry that i haven't written much laterly, beacuse i am quite busy. Our company is organizing the interior selection competition of China national ping pang team. The femal team just left last night,at the same time, the male team arrived. From this Thursday to Sunday, the national male players will stay at our company's apartment and play more than 200 games.

Since 8th. March, i have been in the gym to do preparations for the interior competition.I am taking a charge of the press conference area and Athletes area. For me, it is convennient to get on the internet and get these world champions' idographes. But now, i have no mood for these, i just want to take one-day-long rest.

As i am blogging, the players are exercising on the top floor. After the competition, i will post some pictures of them, and share my experience with you all.

Our own spring festival Gala

Befor the china traditional spring festival, we held an annual stage performance.This time, it was really an amazing and wonderful stage Gala. All were organized and performed by ourselves. Becasue of my duty for this Gala, i couldn't attend it completely. Fortunately, i got the opportunity to watch the rehearsal. For this Gala, related department would hold a performance contest, and a rank list would be published after the Gala. But i think, regardless of how they place, each performer should receive a star's welcome. What they had done have already shown their courage and confidence.

Charitable Event on Valentine's Day!

A girl called GIN who is on the same QQ english chatting group with me said she would sell roses on streets at the night of Valentine's day. And all of the money earned by this would be donated to the needy and homebounds. This event is organized by a disable person, the girl and her friends will volunteer for this charitable event. Later,She also showed some pics to us.

I think it is a really significant Valentine's Day for the girl GIN and her friends. And it also touched and inspired me. On the special romantic day, a group of young people is dedicating their cares.

I just want to change a new cellphone for myself. But what kind of cellphone do i need? It is really hard to make a decision. You know, in these days, for electronics, looks or appearances are everything, The smaller and sleeker are the popular trends. So what kind of electronics you want depends on you focus mainly on a product's function or looks. After all, the power of choice has been given on consumers hands. Meanwhile, your choice also can show your character.
Honestly, I just pay more attention to the practicabilities of modern electronics. I dislike to pursue fashionable trends, because I have no extra money to keep me staying ahead of the lastest trends. For me, the digital camera installed on cellphone is just a toy, i also can't be satisfied with the acoustic effects produced by mp3 player combined with cellphone. So I just need a plain one.

This is my second time to be involved in a Tv commercial.Maybe you might consider that i would have some experience in performances. Do you like collection? And what kind of things are you eager to collect? Stamps, coins or antiques? The day before yesterday, a report on Tv said that a young man living in Shen Yang likes to collect cola cans. It is really interesting, isn’t it? No matter you are rich or poor, if you are passionate about something, you can make it become your collection. But one thing you should notice: your patience can make or break your collection interest.
What do I like to collect? As one of my best friends is operating a natural crystal and gem shop (http://cangclub.blog.sohu.com), I like to collect natural crystal!!!! These crystal was produced over hundred million years ago, they are so beautiful and diverse. Sometime, fortunately, if some minerals were included in crystal, and these varieties of minerals produced fantastic scenery, the crystal rock should be valuable. My friend ever told me, in common situation, white crystal is cheaper than other kinds, amethyst is more expensive. But for quite clean crystal sphere, even through a white one, if its diameter is over 10cm., that means rare..
On the third Saturday and Sunday of each month, in my city, an antique extravaganza would be held. At that time, the sidewalks near the antique market will be packed with antique hawkers, you push your way through the sea of people, and walk from stand to stand. But be careful! Maybe one of your feet is standing on an old magazine belonged to a vendor, it is antique also. Don’t have enough money to burn off? That is ok. To experience this extravaganza is an amazing thing in itself.

This morning, my coworker told me that the China Mobile (China biggest telecommunication giant) was holding a promotion campaign: If you pay certain amount of cell phone fee in advance, they will give you a free cell phone.
It sounded not bad, didn't it? So I went to the China Mobile business hall with a friend and want to took a look. After knowing our purpose, the clerk told us that we should go to see the poster sticked on the wall and decided which model we wanted. Totally, there were three kinds of cell phone could be chosen. Both my friend and I thougt the Nokia cell phone might be better, but we didn't know what functions it has, so we went back to the counter and asked the clerk whether she could offer a one in order to let us know its functions and quality. Unfortunately, the clerk answered:no way! she explained that we could find what the cell phone was by watching the poster. And if we had already made our determination to choose which one, she would take a new one from the upstairs and then we must accept it. However, the poster only pictured three models, no other dedails on it. How can we make our minds only by watching a picture? Finally, i told the clerk that was no way either, i couldn't accept a cell pone in that way.
I wondered what the purpose was to hold such a promotion campaign? To earn more cell pone fee in advance or just alms for China Mobile users? If it was the latter, at least, i needn't such kind of alms.

As we sat around a table at a restaurant which is offering hot pot two weeks ago, my friends started their discussion intensively. Its ingenious story, attractive polts and heart-thumping suspenses. All these are about one thing----An American TV series "Prison Break"(越狱 in chinese).They called it PB.
With curiousness in my mind, last week , I saw this TV series over internet movie bar. Now, i have to say that it is a really wonderful Tv series. If you haven't seen it, i strongly recommended it to you. The only regret is that the series was only updated by 13th section of season II. That means nobody knows what the conclusion is. Fortunately,my coworker told me that the rest part of it will be played in Feb. 2007 in northern American area. so we have to wait for.....
I think i am smitten with the TV show. Sometime: i repeated the classic lines of it, even suspected that someone was a detective from FBI. Yesterday, i bought a set of DVD, so whenever i want to review the series, i can do it conveniently. I never thought that i would be hooked on a Tv program like this before. But now, i have to admit the charm from TV series is so impressive.

Tonight,after supper, the fixed phone in my family room was ringring. While i picked it up and answered, I realized it was my coworker. He was in my office and wanted to use my computer. He called me to get the computer password.
The guy does not belong to our department. But he has the key, he always makes some excuses for using our computers or printer after work. Sometime, when i come in my office next day, my computer is still opened with a game window, more annoying, each time he used my computer, he even changed settings on my computer,such as the typewrite method and favorite website.....or installed other softwares.
I dislike someone i don't know well to touch my computer, i think, personal computer relates to personal privacy.
At the end of the conversation with the guy, i asked him how to know my home telephone number. He told me he checked it out by 114.
Oh, my god! Another case about privacy. When we fix a telephone, we have to register in the telecommunication company. But, does the company have right to give away or expose our information? If i want to know the mayor's telephone number, can the 114 tell me also? I think the answer must be negative. The important persons' privacy can be protected, how about the ordinary people?
In present society, respecting others, personal privacy should be the priority.

Tonight, I looked through pictures on my computer. Some of them reminded me of some persons.
These two pictures were taken on the way to BeiJing International Airport,before the National Day holiday of 2006.The man is my foreign coworker named Illiase ( whose chinese name is Lee ying jie.)from Casablanca (Morocco). The boy in his arms is his son whom was born in China, I only remember his Chinese name--- Lee chan lan. The woman behind him is his wife Shames. Her Chinese name is Yang guang.
One year ago, in July,2005, I picked up the couple at the Bei Jing International airport, from then on, the couple began their life in China. Speaking frankly, their accent is a little bit strange, during our initial conversations, i had to ask them to repeat some words, sometime even spell them out. The wife's english is much better than his husband.
One year later, after Illiase (the husband) finished his contract with us, he decided to go back his country with his familly. I was selected to sent them to the airport again. I took these pictures to record this experience,for both them and me.

I bought three bottles of contact lens protection liquid from a glasses shop last month. One day, i found a news on Sina, which said some products of Complete computing inc.(http://www.amochina.com) had defective issue. I checked my purchase and found what i had bought were just their products. Later, the company gave a list of defective products numbers and announced they would offer method to call back these products. Few days past, they published the so-called method: customers post back the defective products based on the address they offered. And the company will give money back including the post expense.What a perfect method!!!!
I packed the products into a box and took them to the post office of China Post. But, after the official knew what i wanted to post,he refused to accept it, the official told me that the chemical material was forbidden to transport. Oh, though i was not satisfied with his attitude, i decided to change another post company.
More unfortunately,as the clerk of another private post company saw the address i wrote on the box, she denied me again, because the address is an interior postbox number of China Post. (The biggest post company in china.) And the private post company can not find the address without specific geographic address (location) or telephone number.That meant only the China post can deal with the transportation,
The clerk suggested me to connect with the service center of complete computing inc. , i accepted her input and dialled 800-988-0903. Unbelievably, they told me that it was the only way to post the defective products. And they can not offer any other address or telephone number.But how can i post them by china post? They refused me! "You can complain them by telephone number 11185."The service center clerk told me.
Oh, my god! what is the major problem? To complain the China post or post back the defective products? I was puzzling.
After i phoned the 11185, the post official gave me a reasonable answer: "How do you prove your package is safety, un-flammable and innocuous. one way you can choose is to find a certification issued by producer." I think he is right. So, i have to call back the complete computing inc. . you guess what? They gave me the same answer like last.
As i know, according to chinese products quality law, both the distributors and producers are responsible for calling back the defective products. But why did the company only choose only way to deal with the problem.Maybe they donot want to confront his distributors, however, should consumers always be the ultimate receivers? I donot think so!
I have already emailed to the head office of company which locates in U.S. I described what i had encountered and hope they could give me a positive response and explanation.

About the donation

Last week, i was notified to donate 100 Yuan and one set of bedding. I did not know what it was for. Last year, i remembered i did the same thing, i also did n't know the reason. I forgot the details: how much money and what kind of supplies.

I really want to do something for the poor people or disaster victims, so i donot care about the money i donated. But one thing i want to say is: whom did we donate to? How much have been donated totally? and Who would supervise its spending?

Each time, we was demanded to donate not only money but also some so called"old clothes ", actually, i think, few people own the real "old clothes". So, we have to buy some new clothes for the donation. During this period, you can find out most prices of these kinds of goods are rising rapidly, most the sellers (the speculators)own much money on it. i really donot understand why we need donate "old clothes" while we donate money. I prefer donating extra money for the "old clothes".
I hope all of the donations can be gotten by people who need them indeed.

As fed up with the BBS( angels' garden ), I decided to set up an authentic photography forum. Last Thursday, I contacted to the CEO of Xiangshu website which is a famous photography site on internet( http://www.xiangshu.com ). I told him that i just wanted to organize my local branch on Xiangshu. He gave me a positive answer and let me recommend someone to act as the manager. I introduced my friend, Mr. Feng to him. .....
Next day, when I opened the xiangshu, I found the symbol of our branch had already been added. That meant the local enthusiasts had their own authentic club and home.

Just now, I got a email from the BBS manager. In his email, he explained something and consoled me for the debate on BBS. He also posted a response under my topic. According to his response, it seems he likes to put all the situations into specific cases and over emphasizes so-called "misunderstanding".
In my opinions, this situation is a common issue, not specific. His attitude will controll the development direction of the BBS. But he just acts as a jack of both side.
What kind of netizen does this BBS want to attrack? It is the key problem. All you want to attrack, all you lose.
Now, I realize that it is not a BBS in which I want to continue to join. So, my slogan is : What should I do, I then go for it. In Chinese: 该干什么，干什么去！

Snide comments and attacks are coming up

I just posed a topic about how to comment others works correctly on the BBS (angels' garden which i mentioned in last article.) One day later, some snide comments and attacks are coming. Just like describing in my topic, my words touched some persons' pain, though i did not mention any one's net name, they still think these words pointed to them. So they becgan to make a fuss, wrote something to criticize me, not only on my words, but also on my reputation.
The worst thing is that the managements of the BBS haven't given any response, more ridiculous, one of the major managers once said that he decided to oppose the snide comments and repution attacks. I don't know what kind of persons is charging this BBS, one thing i can confirm is that few the managers know how to manage a BBS well.
I wrote a email to one manager , I hope that he can come out to say something, but it seems like impossible, all my efforts can not be paid off.

Hehe. I can judge that the BBS will die out soon.

The funny awards

My friend, Mr. feng is an enthusiast of photography. ( I remembered I mentioned it in one of my blog articles, maybe not.) Recently, He got photography awards from a newspaper company. This photo contest was held by the company, and contest's theme is "home furniture". Mr. Feng tooke his awards gladly, but, you guess, what are the awards? They are six bottles of Chinese wine. (alcohol) No one knows what the brand is, it is called "Guo mao san he yuan". It was really funny.

I made fun of it. I told my friend, next time, maybe, the awards should be six bottles of soy, even three big bags of monosodium glutamate. You can use them longer time even than your digital camera's uselife.

A debate on BBS

The angels' garden, ( http://www.jyyyx.com/bbs ) is a name of a BBS. By now, it is the most famous BBS of my city. Which is the most popular column of it. Without any doubt, the "Photography window" is. Some photography fans like to post their works on this column, and some like to give comments on these works. It seems like a very simple thing. But recent days, a debate regarding these comments has begun. Several persons' works became the focus of this debate. some think these works are really wonderful, some disagree with them, they thought these works were quite common.
In fact, I think most of the works there are quite common. The question is that a few persons always give these common works overhigh evaluation. Maybe they do not have special purposes to do that, the only reason maybe is that they know the photographers very well. These actions caused debate. They argued on the BBS, later I was involved. Actually, i did not give any snide comment on any work. That means i was not biased, I just spoke out the truth and I do not want to confront any one.

I either posted some of my works on the BBS, as my attitude was so humble, though some one gave critical comment on them, no one's comment is snide or picky. Most liked the following picture:

This picture was taken during National Day holiday, my friend wanted to buy a house in the countryside, he invited some friends to go there together, and got some second opinions. On the way to the house, I took the pic.

The autumn is coming, leaves is becoming yellow. Last sunday, My wife and I paid a visit to the Bei Hu (Northern lake) park in order to take some pictures of the fall views. Some of my friends who are addicts of photography ever told me that the views of the park were so common. So getting wonderful pictures isn't expected. But, I believe that the wonderful ones just come from commons and ordinaries. For the amazing landscapes, anyone can take tantalizing photoes with a camera.

Since 26th Oct. 2006, I counldn't open my blog. At first, I thought, maybe something wrong with the site of blogger.com. But, later, several days past, the situation haven't changed, and I knew almost all of the users of blogger couldn't log on their blogs. What is the reason?

I donot know exactly. I overheard on internet that maybe some relevant Depts. blocked the blogger, relating the establishment of real-name system for blog users.

Fortunately, I found another way to visit my blog. That is the agent internet server, it is: www.pkblogs.com/username.

The famous snacks (1)---bean curd slice ( Gan Tofu)

What is the most famous snack of Jin zhou city? I think, it should be the bean curd slice. The locals call it Gan tofu, means "dry bean curd slice". For this snack, different areas give it different name, even in the same province. Some people called it " Tofu pi"------skin of tofu. But actually, most north-eastern people think "Tofu pi" is another kind of Tofu, quite different with "Gan tofu".

Jin zhou's Gan tofu is fomous for its super-thinness, just like a thin paper. One time, my American friend, Chuck covered one piece of the Gan tofu on his cigarette box, the cigarette's brand can be recognized.

Eating this snack involves a rather ritual, not complicated. Preparing some leaves of shallot, then using one slice of the Gan tofu to wrap the leaves. Finally, dipping into a salty sauce.

You know, my friend, Chuck discovered a new way to eat the snack. He wrapped the Gan tofu around some slices of cucumber, then dipped into the sauce. He ate it as a kind of cookie.

Trip to the Bi Jia Mountain beach

These pictures were taken at the beach of Bi jia mountain. At that time, I just bought my new digital camera, so it is the first time that i took pictures by it. I remembered that day was quite nice. Five person went to the beach together. Most are fans of photograph, Mr feng and Xu bo are old-hands, i am just entry-level.

Several monthes later, when i look these pictures, they remind me of that day.

I mentioned Ijonit the national day phot contest in one of my blogs, today, the results was announced. I got nothing, my friend, Mr. Feng became one of the winners.

Actually, The results should be accounced yesterday, and some unknown reasons, it was put off. After seeing all of the winner's entries, except my friend's works, i donot know how to describe the contest here. Is it a contest or a joke? I really want to know what the criterias are?

Tow weeks ago, I was selected to teach english in a ping pang ( table tennis) club. Actually, I don't want to do it, Because I have no experience in teaching teens, I prefer teaching adults.
In the class, the oldest student is about 15 years old, the yongest one is about 8 years old. All of the students joint this club to study how to play ping pang well. Some of them are from other cities, so they have to live here and study here.

Only after teaching 2 lessons, I figured out most were only 4th or 5th grade level of elementary school, even the oldest one. Obviously, they pay more attentions to study ping pang, and don't put their study first. The class was so noisy, few one wants to study english. I donot want to manage the class at all, I am not a professional english teacher, I am a clerk instead. I was just selected to teach them, not to take care children.

Maybe some of them could be ping pang world champions in the future, only just "maybe". If they can't be successful in this field, what can they do? Even as a ping pang coach, it also needs knowledge.

The ancient Jinzhou tower

The ancient tower locates in the Gu Ta park. It has already become a symbol of the city. Many mention it in their articles or websites. But what is its accurate origin? Few people knows it. Even some one gave its birth a wrong dynasty.

The ancient tower's full name is "Da guang ji Temple Tower", it was built in A.D. 1057 ( The period of Liao Dynasty, which is a minority Dynasty.)
What are the reasons of building this tower? Some history documents show: A queen of Liao kindom sent two officers to visit the Great Song kingdom, when the two officer came back, the emperor of Song kingdom gave Liao kindom white, green, and red, three bones of Buddha (She li, 舍利) as a gift. The queen was very glad after knowing it, she decided to build a tower and put the bones in this tower.

Jin zhou was selected. The reasons are: The queen ever lived in Jinzhou for some years, when she was yong. secondly, The emperor of Liao kindom hadn't gotten a son though he was 26 years old, and the queen prayed a son in front of a buddha in Jinzhou, and the next month, one of the emperor's wives was pregnant. Thirdly, the emperor believe in Buddhism, and he thought the bones could bring happiness and fortune.

Above is the simple origin of the tower.

The national day holiday photo contest

www.Chinadaily.com.cn is a very famous english website in china. Before the national holiday, the Chindaily website held a photo contest. They promised the winners will get the followings as awards:

I bought a new digital camera this year, it is the Canon Eos 350 D. One day, I invited two my good friends to take some pictures at the northern lake park. But they donot want to go, because they think the landscapes of the lake are quite common, the wonderful pictures can not be created there. I insisted on it, then we went there and took some pics.

The natural crystal and gem shop openned last month. Its main products are crystal, gem thrinkets and decorators. During the National day vacations, only one transaction was made, actually it was not a really transaction. The management of the market arranged a promotion campaign, some of the city's celebrities participated this activity and bought one commordity from each stall as a reward.
After the national vacations, it seemed that the business was getting better. Some patrons started to buy something, though the sale amount was quite low. Everyone has confidence for this business, we think it can take off in the short future.Today, I designed a beautiful business card for the shop. The alcohol culture

In northeastern China, the people are famous for their alcohol culture. It seems that every northeastern people can drink much. I think, maybe the climate and the customs creat this. I am a northeastern person, I can drink some also. But sometime, I really dislike the alcohol culture, especially when someone force me to drink much.

In a formal occasion, if "some one" attend a dinner, and unfortunately the one can drink much, that means a boring dinner starts. During the dinner, the one will force others to drink. If anyone disobeys his will, that means the guy doesn't give the one a "face", then it will embarrass the both sides. So, before the dinner ends, the consequence is: several guys has already spouted out all of the food. Maybe the theme of the dinner is " communication". Actually, no one can not and donot want to speak one word. Some are drunk, some are thinking how to avoid the next cups of alcohol.

One of my American friend ever said, he doesn't like anyone force him to drink how much, because how much He wants to drink is his business and his freedom. Everyone attending the dinner just need to mind your own business. I agree with his view. But I am a Chinese, a northeasten chinese. Maybe I should adapt this alcohol culture, but I really donot want to put it up anymore.

The spicy fish （水煮鱼)

In china mainland, recent years, one kind of Si chuan (province) food called spicy fish （水煮鱼）is more popular. The meaning of its chinese name is fish boiled by cooking oil. The taste of the authentic spicy fish, like other sichuan food, is very very spicy. But more and more people like it, even some foreigners.
How to cook it? Actually, I don't know the details. For the restaurants which are selling the spicy fish, the ingredients are still a commercial secret. most diners only know: cut fish into very thin pieces, then pickle them with a special sauce, finally pour the boiling cooking oil on it with many many red peppers.
Yesterday, a friend who like to research cuisine invited my wife and me to have a dinner at his house. The major dish is the "spicy fish". In my memory, it was the third time that he cooked this dish for us. Each time he selected the different way to pickle the fish, because he is still discovering it. But yesterday, I think the third method is unsuccessful.

The interior competitions

Recently, our head office required all of the staff of the head office should work in the front-line branches for one day. So, yesterday, I went to a branch and worked there. During the time of working there, I found out that the branch's business was really busy. Within one day, each clerk needs to deal with several hundred transactions. Comparing with other institutions, this situation really makes us confident for our business and outlook. But the most important issue I found out is the "Interior competitions".Speaking of the "Interior competitions", once I took a taxi, after the driver realized I was a clerk of our bank, he asked me a question. The followings are our dialog.
Driver(D): why each time I draw money at your bank's different savings offices, they ask me to change a new passbook?
Me(M): Really?
D:Really. They said there is something wrong with my passbook, and they need to change a new one for me. Especially, I went to the different savings office and was given the same treatment.
M: Sorry, I donot know the reason. If you face the same situation next time, maybe you can ask them clearly. I am really sorry.
But yesterday, I found the answer. The savings office just wanted to change the passbook into another one which is issured by itself. Then, the amount on this new passbook can be calculated as this savings office's contribution.
By comparision, this savings office tells the customers the truth. They did not make any excuse.,and did not lie to the customers. But it also brings trougbles to the customers. Summarising in one word: "Interior competition".I think, putting more attention and emphasis on the amount of savings is the main reason that causes this phenomenon rising. As a clerk of the manangement department, we should think it over.

The Tv ad.

Before the 2006 spring festival, our enterprise decided to take a video ad. on Tv. But nobody had ideas about what this ad. should be. The manager allocated this work to me. And the time given for preparation was only one day.The next day, I went to a wholesale market for some props. At the same time, several clerks who have some performing experiences were noticed to join in the event.It is only 30 seconds movie. I let everybody say one greeting sentence as the lines with the props in their hands. Finally, we finished the ad. and took this picture as memory.
